	Through the eyes of a child 

...was an in-teractive workshop with architecture students all over the world. The aim was to get in the inner of your mind to recreate the first childhood memory in contact with nature and represent them in form of sculptu-res out of materi-als in your surroun-dings.

"Before doing the exercise that specific memory was very blurry and di-stant, I hardly recalled it at all and never really bothered to do so, but now it is somehow so vivid as if it happened yesterday. If I'm com-pletely honest I'm not sure if the memory is real at all, but that's the case with most childhood memories anyway I guess. But I'm very glad I have the memory be it real or fake and I'm also very thankful that now there's a more recent experience I can associate it with. After all it's nota bad first memory to have." 

"I never thought and analyzed my childhood memories of nature, and it was quite surprising that the first one I had was related to the danger of the subject, revelation of the harmful and violent spectum of emotions and affects it can produce. Being bitten by the bee after an intention to touch and stroke (pet) it, I had an immediate shift from innocence and trust to awareness. The essense of the whole situation is very ironie an action without anger, not meant to cause anything dreadful was having an irreversible consequences leading to the death of a creature." 

"Proper experience of nature isso-mething that could only happen wi-thout any predefined concept. I would argue that a child sees nature as a possibility and an experience whe-re we may only see thoughts that we already know. A deer, a dog, a worm see nature. A scientist may understand everything but experience nothing."

9 days of architectural workshops in Vienna: the Vienna Architecture Summer School (VAS²) is an independent learning space for students, graduates and drop-outs in architecture or any other related discipline. Away from established hierarchies of universitary structures, we aim for exchange and negotiation of knowledges beyond dominating institutions and mainstream discourses.
In architecture, reflection is more than a visual phenomenon, it is a spatial strategy. Reflective surfacesdistort, multiply, conceal and reveal. By bending light and redirecting vision, they unsettle form, openingspace totransformation and new questions. It is not only reflection; redirected light itself can changespatial experience, shaping atmosphere and perception in subtle but powerful ways.Sometimes these effects are intentional, designed to manipulate vision or amplify space. Other times, they occur by chance. Reflection and light behaviour are inherent qualities in many materials, often unnoticed until a specific moment reveals them. Light streaming through a window can illuminate a smallpart of a façade opposite, unexpectedly highlighting architectural details that may otherwise gounnoticed. These accidental moments are as striking as the planned ones, reminding us thatarchitecture is always shifting, responsive and alive.Reflection also allows us to reframe space, to see it from a new perspective. In reflection, the boundary between structure and image dissolves. A mirrored surface does not simply replicate space, it questions it, inviting doubt, projection, and possibility. Similarly, redirected light can reveal hidden geometries or create ephemeral thresholds, reshaping space in real-time.Vienna provides fertile ground for exploration, with itsrich architectural tradition, cafés featuring mirrored interiors and grand compositions that play with light and perception. The city becomes a living laboratory for reflective experimentation.This workshop invites participants to explore reflection and light as architectural tools. We will investigate the qualities trough collective discussions and hands-on experiments. Participants will work on individual compositions, engaging with reflective materials to create site-specific installations. By merging theory, material exploration, and embodied experience, we will reimagine space, not as fixed, but as layered, shifting, and alive.some photos by Richard Pobaschnig

	Imitation is the sincerest form of appreciation. in history there have been several examples in architecture or art of successful copies, as well as many failed attempts. the theme of copying is still present in current discourses. This paper attempts to ask the question:
what happens when we copy?

these features can be summed up in the concept of aura, and say: what withers away from the work of art in the epoch of its technical reoroducibility is its aura. it is a symptomatic process; its significance points beyond the realm of art. the technique of reproduction of the realm of tradition. by multiplying its reproductions, it puts, instead of its unique appearance, its massive appearance. and by allowing the reproduction to become associated with the receiver in its singular situation, it actualises the reproduced.

		<description>FRAU* schafft Raum
	The small tobacco shop in Nussdorfer Straße 4 in Vienna has always had a special standing in the 'Grätzl' (neighborhood) as an informal meeting place among the inhabitants before the femicide. After the conversion, the space continues to characterize the urban context as a popular meeting spot and modern monument against violence against women.


The architecture establishes a narrative on different levels: 

on the social level, it offers a flexible space open to dialogue on the position of women; 

on the historical level, it establishes a formal continuity with the pre-existing building, whose façade has been restored; 

on the symbolic level, it leaves an eloquent sign in the plasterwork that recalls the cruelty of the act committed; 

on the technical and design level, it proposes a contrast between the heaviness of the 19th-century walls and the lightness of the modern interventions in steel, glass, and white canvas.

 
The clarity of the surfaces sublimates the violence of femicide in an abstract space, which also symbolically represents a blank canvas available to the artists.

 
In the project, the original aluminium handle of the old shop was recovered, which bears the marks of the many touches and the many hands of the people who frequented that space.

 
The metal surface facing the street accompanies us from the hustle and bustle of the outside to the quietness of the interior. Its sheen reflects the image of the people, the city, and the works of art, creating a whole new perspective. "FRAU* schafft Raum" serves as a platform for a multifaceted discourse and transforms the site of violence into a place of memory, solidarity, and prevention.
